Shipping to United States: $4.40

Three Snowmen and an Elf, a DIY ornaments PATTERN ready for you to start hooking. Sweet little ornaments to hook in the primitive style of rug hooking. Finished, they each measure about 4-1/2" long and 3" across.

You will receive a 4 x 6 photo with purchase along with instructions on how to finish them after hooking. It does NOT include instructions on how to hook.

This is for the PATTERN only, not the finished ornament.

Choose option for the pattern drawn on cotton monks cloth or primitive linen. For more info on foundation fabric, see FAQs.

I hand draw each ornament on a 20" x 19" foundation fabric. It will fit on most rug hooking lap frames or in a sturdy 14" hoop. The raw edges of the backing fabric are serged to prevent raveling while hooking.

The finished samples give you an example of how I decided to hook my ornaments. I used natural white wool for the body of the snowmen and the elfs beard and fur on his boots. I used Christmas red and green for the hats, scarves and clothes of the elf, a bit of tan for the face. Then black for the eyes, buttons and boots. The examples were hooked with #8 (1/4" wide) cut strips. Instructions include how to add a backing piece of felted wool and the hanging strip.

These would make a great gift or party favor. They look so cute on a Christmas tree. There is always lots of conversations about how these are made and how primitive they are. Hang it from a window sill, door knob, dresser drawer or back of a chair. It's a wonderful little piece of color and visual interest that will add a bit of primitive Americana to your home.

Which Backing Fabric should I choose?

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.

Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.

Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.

Do you refund shipping overage charges?

Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
