DIY Rug Hooking PATTERN, "Primitive Welcome" is fun and fanciful. Great to use up all your leftover strips of wool. The finished size is 10" x 36". Other items in the photo are not included in this listing.

I recommend that you take a class in primitive rug hooking before ordering my designs. They do not come with instructions on "how to hook". For more info on cotton monks cloth and primitive linen, please visit my FAQ section.

I loved hooking this rug and you will, too! It's a great size to hang about a doorway or to place on a bench or table. I used a #8 cut to hook this design.
And, it's a great way to use up your stash. I divided my leftover noodles into groups of darks, lights and reds. Add in a few brights for pizzazz. I hooked my letters in a mishmash of reds, because I LOVE red!! Then I hooked some light rows around the "Welcome" to set it apart from the dark background. I made the background dark with brights here and there to liven things up :). Then You will have a lot of fun choosing your wools and putting news ideas of colors next to each other.

I hand draw the pattern on the foundation fabric which measures about 20" x 44". This leaves at least a 4" border on all sides. Raw edges have been serged to prevent raveling while hooking.

If you are looking for a specific color or texture, I will be happy to check my inventory. If you are able to send a photo, that is a great help to me in understanding what you are looking for.

Special Orders are non returnable. Wool Kits and Wool Packs that have been cut in strips for rug hooking are not refundable.

Which Backing Fabric should I choose?

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.

Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.

Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.

Do you refund shipping overage charges?

Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
