One Yard Cotton Monks Cloth for Rug Hooking, Raw Edges, S202, Foundation Fabric

Shipping to United States: $8.95

This listing is for one yard of cotton monks cloth. It is 100% cotton and measures 36" x 59"- 60". Cotton monks cloth is strong and durable and is a great foundation for your hooked rugs. It works for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It can also be used for Punch needle projects that are punched with yarn. Not recommended for embroidery punch needle as the weave is too open.

It has a two strand open weave with about 12 x 13 holes per square inch. It is natural in color with a white thread running the length of the weave 2" apart. This is helpful in drawing designs on the straight of grain. This one yard will come to you with the 36" having raw edges and 59-60" sides selvage. The raw edges will have to be zigzagged or serged or taped before using. See link below if you would like to order with edges already serged.

If you order more than one yard and want them in continuous yardage, please make a note at checkout, otherwise they will be sent in separate one yard pieces..

Which Backing Fabric should I choose?

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.

Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.

Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.

Do you refund shipping overage charges?

Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.

    Great quality and wonderful service.

Extremely fast shipping! Great for punch needle projects

This is the third time I've ordered monks cloth from this vendor. Her shipping is fast, and she is very accommodating about cutting the piece into single yards pieces or leaving it in larger pieces. And she is always such a pleasure to do business with. This is my favorite base for rug punching.

Shipped almost immediately! Perfect for punch needle projects.
