This listing is for the rug hooking PATTERN "Sheep in the Meadow". It measures 22" x 26". A DIY pattern. Finished rugs are used as samples only.

From my collection of hooked rug designs, it features some of my favorite motifs: sheep, cottage, pine trees, and flowers.
It is a great design for beginners who are planning to take a class or workshop and a quick and fun rug for veteran hookers. This simple folk art pastoral scene will add a touch of warmth and whimsy to your home.

The first rug photo shows a version hooked by one of my Minnesota rug hooking friends, Jeanne. I love her color choices and use of textures and hand dyed wools. This rug makes me feel like it's a September day in Minnesota, a most beautiful time of year. She used an 8 cut.
The second rug was hooked by my friend, Nancy, also a Minnesota hooker! Her soft purple house is so sweet! She hooked a stone wall alongside the cottage and echoed those colors in the scalloped border. Also hooked with an 8 cut.
I love how they both decided to add a black sheep...there's always one in every family, right?

The pattern is hand drawn on your choice of primitive linen or monks cloth. Care has been taken to draw all straight lines on the grain line so that your rug will finish square. The border is at least 4" to fit over most rug hooking frames. The raw edges of the foundation fabric have been serged to prevent raveling while hooking.

Which Backing Fabric should I choose?

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.

Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.

Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.

Do you refund shipping overage charges?

Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
