Plain black is 100% mill dyed wool. It is a plain black flannel weave wool. Fat 1/4 yards approx. 16" x 28", fat eighths approx 14" x 16".
This is a medium weight wool fabric, with just a hint of loft, suitable in rug hooking for #8 cuts and wider. I have washed and dried to make it ready for use in applique and rug hooking. It will mix beautifully with other dark textures and plaids. Add black to any and all projects to create a great graphic effect.
The other wool selections in the photos are props to help you see the color more easily.
If you have ordered plain black from me before, this may be from a different manufacturer than earlier plain black wool listings.

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.
Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.
Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.
Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
