This listing is for the rug hooking PATTERN "Four Square Floral. It measures 40" x 40" and can be purchased on either primitive linen or cotton monks cloth.

It is from my design collection and is based on antique rugs and folk art with floral themes. I hooked this rug with an 8-1/2 cut and used reds, roses, dirty whites and tans, blues and greens for flowers and leaves. The background was a brown and red plaid.

This rug design was a finalist in "Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs XXIII", a yearly publication by Rug Hooking Magazine. Friend and fellow rug hooker, Betty Rafferty, expertly hooked her beautiful rendition which was displayed at Sauder Village in August, 2013 and published in beautiful color in Celebrations Magazine.

I hand draw the pattern on the foundation cloth of your choice, with at least 4 inch borders. Care is taken to draw all straight lines on the grain line so that your rug will finish square. Any outside raw edges have been serged to prevent raveling while hooking.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please feel free to contact me about special orders by clicking on the "request a custom order" button. I have a lot of inventory that is not listed.

If you are looking for a specific color or texture, I will be happy to check my inventory. If you are able to send a photo, that is a great help to me in understanding what you are looking for.

Special Orders are non returnable. Wool Kits and Wool Packs that have been cut in strips for rug hooking are not refundable.

Designs and patterns that have been customized and/or personalized cannot be returned.

Which Backing Fabric should I choose?

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.

Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.

Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.

Do you refund shipping overage charges?

Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.

Such a great business!' I sent her a photo of bouquet for my daughter’s wedding rug and she dyed up some very special wools specifically in the palate which I requested. I have hooked several patterns from her over the years and they are precisely straight & great quality .
