"Santa and Three Cardinals" PATTERN measures approximately 8" across the top, 18" long and 12" across the foot. Order on your choice of either cotton monks cloth or primitive linen. This is for the PATTERN ONLY. The hooked stocking in the photo is for display only and is not for sale.
The pattern DOES NOT come with instructions on how to hook or how to finish.
I hooked this pattern using a #8 (1/4" wide) strips. This stocking pattern is a good way to use up all the smaller wool pieces that you have in your stash. Gather some off whites for the snow, maybe a little gray or light blue for the sky. Find some greens, reds and golds and just a few worms for Santa's face and cheek, a bit of black and you're good to go...ready, set, hook!
I have hand drawn the design on the foundation fabric making sure to draw all border lines and straight lines on the straight of grain. There are 4" inch borders on all sides making it large enough to fit on most lap frames and in a 14" hoop. The outside raw edges have been serged to prevent raveling.

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.
Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.
Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.
Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
