This listing is for the KIT to hook my design "Coneflower Mat". The design measures 8" x 8".

If you have learned how to rug hook or are planning on attending a workshop or class, this is a perfect beginner project. Just big enough to see how you like rug hooking. The kit comes with the wool fabric cut in 1/4" wide (#8) strips, so with just a few other items, like a rug hooking hoop or frame and a rug hook, you will be ready to hook. Please read below to see what the kit does and does NOT include.

This kit includes:
1. The pattern on cotton monks cloth OR primitive linen, select your choice.
2. 100% wool fabrics, cut in #8 (1/4" wide strips).
3. Instructions of where to use each color in the wool pack and a color photo.

The kit DOES NOT include a hook or finishing tape or yarn.
It DOES NOT include instructions on how to hook.

Wool fabrics may vary slightly from those in photos, but will be hook up to look very similar.

There is a generous amount of wool in the kit, based on what I used while hooking it. If you hook tighter or higher than I do, you may need more wool which you are welcome to purchase.

This kit is also great for veteran rug hookers. Hook it up quickly to give to a friend. It makes a great trivet for a tea pot. Or place it in a basket or use it to top an antique stool.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Custom and personalized orders

Please feel free to contact me about special orders by clicking on the "request a custom order" button. I have a lot of inventory that is not listed.

If you are looking for a specific color or texture, I will be happy to check my inventory. If you are able to send a photo, that is a great help to me in understanding what you are looking for.

Special Orders are non returnable. Wool Kits and Wool Packs that have been cut in strips for rug hooking are not refundable.

Designs and patterns that have been customized and/or personalized cannot be returned.

Which Backing Fabric should I choose?

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.

Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.

Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.

Do you refund shipping overage charges?

Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.

Thank you! Perfect. Now just need time to hook.

great kit for those just learning rug hooking!

I received this very quickly. The material is really nice and it was larger enough that it fits great in my hoop. Mary has really good directions. I am only just started on it and excited to get if finished.

I sent this to my mom as a gift right after Christmas and the shipping was super fast! I had a follow up question for Mary and she was responsive, kind, and helpful. Thank you!

Outstanding service. The quality of the wool is above and beyond, as well as, you can customize the piece with ease, as the instructions suggest.
