This listing is for the rug hooking PATTERN "Primitive Floral #1". It measures 28" x 36".
Choose option to purchase on either Primitive Linen or Cotton Monks Cloth.
A 4" x 6" photo comes with the pattern.

This listing DOES NOT include the hooked rug which is shown as a sample. It is from my design collection and is based on antique rugs and folk art with floral themes. I have hand drawn the pattern on primitive linen or monks cloth with at least 4 inch borders. Care has been taken to draw all straight lines on the grain line so that your rug will finish square. The outer edge of the pattern have beenserged to prevent raveling.

This design is fun to hook! I hooked this rug in 2005, using a brighter color palette that was really out of my comfort zone. I'm not a big fan of coral or lime green, but the light bright colors made the rug cheerful and interesting. I hooked each flower a little differently, thinking I would go back and "fix" my least favorite, but in the end, I decided to just let them be! The light background is a mixture of hand dyed lights and "as is" light textures.

If you are planning to take a class or workshop, this pattern would be great for a beginning rug hooker to work on technique and color planning. If you have never hooked before I would suggest starting out with a small pattern to see if you like it. Here are a couple of my listings with the pattern and wool cut, ready to hook. You would also need to purchase a hook and a hoop or frame to begin.

Which Backing Fabric should I choose?

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.

Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.

Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.

Do you refund shipping overage charges?

Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
