It is 100% linen in a soft tan color with a thread count per inch of 12 x 12. The evenly spaced weave makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
It is loosely woven and therefore the edges need to be finished or it will ravel away as you are hooking on it. So for those of you who don't sew, or don't have time to finish the edges, there is an option to purchase the linen with the raw edges serged. (See 4th photo). If you order the edges serged, only the raw edges will be serged, so a one yard piece will have the two long edges serged and the half yard piece will have three sides serged.

If you order multiple one yard pieces with raw edge option, the quantity will be sent to you in a continuous piece unless you ask me to send them in one yard pieces.

Linen is a strong durable backing fabric that will last for a lifetime, some say for more than a hundred years. It is more expensive than other traditional backing fabrics such as monks cloth and burlap because of its durability and strength. Using the best backing fabric when you have spent so many hours, days and months on a project will insure a lasting treasure.

Special Orders are non returnable. Wool Kits and Wool Packs that have been cut in strips for rug hooking are not refundable.
Designs and patterns that have been customized and/or personalized cannot be returned.
Which Backing Fabric should I choose?
Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.
Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.
Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.
Do you refund shipping overage charges?
Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
