1/2 yard of bleached primitive linen for rug hooking with SERGED EDGES. The linen will arrive ready to start on your rug hooking project. Three edges of this piece have been serged. The 4th edge is a selvedge and will not ravel.
It is 100% linen and measures approximately 32" x 36". The thread count per inch is 12 x 12. The evenly spaced weave makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider. This is a bleached linen that has been lightened from its natural state to help make it easier to draw on, and to see your designs lines when hooking.
It is loosely woven and therefore the edges need to be finished or it will ravel away as you are hooking on it. So for those of you who don't sew, or don't have time to finish the edges, this is a great option.
You can also purchase this size without the serged edge. To see other sizes and other foundation fabrics, see the Hooking Supplies section: https://www.designsinwool.com/shop/7706447/hooking-suppliesbooks
Linen is a strong durable backing fabric that will last for a lifetime, some say for more than a hundred years. It is more expensive than other traditional backing fabrics such as monks cloth and burlap because of its durability and strength. Using the best backing fabric when you have spent so many hours, days and months on a project will insure a lasting treasure.

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.
Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.
Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.
Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
