This listing is for the KIT to hook my design "Black Capped Chickadee 10" x 12". It includes a wool pack and a hand drawn pattern.
Each kit includes:
1. The pattern on cotton monks cloth or primitive linen, select your choice. The foundation fabric is about 20" x 19" making it fit in most lap frames and 14" hoops. The edges are serged to protect while hooking.
2. 100% wool fabrics that I have hand dyed and/or mill dyed wool fabrics. Choose to have your wool sent to you uncut or cut in #8 (1/4" wide) strips (see photos)
3. Instructions of where to use the colors in the wool pack and a color photo. It does NOT include instructions on how to hook.
To hook this mat, you will need a primitive rug hook, a rug hooking frame or hoop, and yarn or fabric to finish the edges of the design. The raw edges of the foundation fabric have been serged and it measures about 20" x 20" to fit on most lap frames.
The chickadee is hooked with black, white and grays. Green and brown/gray plaid for leaves and branches, red and orange for the berries and grayed blue textures for the background. For the border I hooked a row of white/light gray, then a row of red and orange, next a row of the gray and honeycomb and the outside row in black.

Custom and personalized orders
Please feel free to contact me about special orders by clicking on the "request a custom order" button. I have a lot of inventory that is not listed.
If you are looking for a specific color or texture, I will be happy to check my inventory. If you are able to send a photo, that is a great help to me in understanding what you are looking for.
Special Orders are non returnable. Wool Kits and Wool Packs that have been cut in strips for rug hooking are not refundable.
Designs and patterns that have been customized and/or personalized cannot be returned.
Which Backing Fabric should I choose?
Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.
Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.
Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.
Do you refund shipping overage charges?
Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.

One problem the pattern was backwards as shown on the paper directions. Silly for some but I'm a beginner
