I started rug hooking in 1998. At the time I was an
avid quilter and hesitated to start another craft. But
my sister, Carol, who had been rug hooking since 1989
kept asking me to give it a try and I finally gave
in...and guess what... I was hooked!
I
started dyeing my own wool and drawing designs. In
2001, while living in Oswego, Illinois, I started
"Crestview Cottage" and began selling my hand dyed wool
and teaching rug hooking. In 2005, my husband and I
moved back home to Minnesota and I renamed my business
"Designs in Wool".
I
have a studio in my home, filled with wool and
patterns. I'd love to have you come and visit.
My
rug patterns are influenced by my love for folk art and
the whimsical designs of early rug hookers. Although I
haven't had any formal art training, it seems I have
been drawing and doodling flowers, houses and trees and
geometric designs in my notebooks and journals since I
was a small girl. I'm always filling up notebooks and
will keep sharing patterns as I finish them.
My
Catalog of Primitive Designs was updated in 2006, the
2nd Edition. If you would like to see all my designs in
print form, please
order
my Catalog of Primitive Rug Hooking Designs for
$5.00PP.
I
love to dye wool as much as I love to hook and hope you
will visit my studio sometime soon so you can see all
the wonderful wool I have in stock. Call to set up a
time...bring your projects, stay awhile and hook...bring
your friends! Check out other places you will be able
to see my designs and wool on the
Events
page.
Thanks for visiting!
